Don’t try to manage your or someone else’s suicidal thoughts on your own. Remember, thoughts about suicide are just that – thoughts. They won’t last forever and often they pass quickly. Many people who have had serious thoughts about suicide have said that they feel completely different only hours later.

Zest is a counselling service for self-harm and suicidal behaviour. Zest is currently operating in the Western, Northern and Southern Trusts providing, counselling, family support and training. Zest has developed effective models of practice in working with these issues and more recently has incorporated alcohol management models to support those presenting with both self-harm and alcohol misuse Zest currently delivers the Self-harm Interagency Network (SHINE) service in the WHSCT. This is a direct referral pathway from the Mental Health teams for counselling after a serious episode of self-harm.
