A unique piece of research into mental health was launched at the University of Ulster on 25 January 2010, with guest speaker Linda Bryans.

The survey of students was carried out as part of the Open Your Mind project and aims to provide a measure of awareness and attitudes towards mental health among the further and higher education population across Northern Ireland.

The research has highlighted that more than one in ten students is suffering from mental ill health. The findings can be downloaded from the NUS/USI website, the Student Movement in Northern Ireland, by visiting www.nistudents.org

Open your Mind is a five-year peer led mental health project, funded by the Big Lottery Fund and managed by NUS/USI and MindWise. MindWise is a leading membership charity which supports those affected by severe mental illness and other mental health difficulties and promotes early intervention.
